Godfather, the book (Mario Puzo)

I borrowed the book from the library the other day. I read it in three days straight. I could not help comparing with the scenes from the movie. The trilogy is on par with the book itself. It is no doubt that Mario Puzo writing the script helped a lot. Since I’ve watched the movies several times and I remember most of them, it is safe to say that it is a good representation of the book.

Blogspot posts on the tracker

Since Blogspot has been gradually upgrading to their new version, there have been some problems their feeds and the tracker itself. I am aware that the tracker misses some posts from blogspot.com. I’ll check this again but cannot promise you anything.

Chinese Gold Farmers — a new virtual economy with real cash

You may not heard of this new type of business: gold farming in China! When there is a need, there is a business opportunity. It did not take long to see a new economy building taking ground. A farmer is someone that earns something of value in MMORPG (massive multiplayer onlive role-playing games) like World of Warcrafts. The farmer collects weapons, tools and points in the game and then resell them on eBay for a small fee. Instead of going in a real farm, they play online for hours. They normally use some proxies in the US/Canada for connecting to the MMORPG servers which makes them difficult to be identified as (Chinese) farmers.

There will be always some lazy people who want to acquire points easily and skip some levels in the game. Labour is cheap in China. Hence, a new booming virtual economy with real cash. It shows that with some basic skills, you can play for a living, but in China.

Heroes (NBC), best new TV series

What if you woke up and realized you possessed super powers? The show follows a genetics professor who, while investigating the disappearance of his father, discovers there are people in the world who have amazing super powers. — Heroes on NBC.

As recommended by my friend Al A-L, Heroes is, indeed, the best new TV series this year. The plot development is well written. I can’t wait for the next episode in January. I like the international flavour in this series: the professor is from India; Hiro is from Japan. But their paths cross each other all the time. Please check this out. I bet you’ll like it.
