Books I read recently
- Naked Conversations by Robert Scoble and Shel Israel
- China Inc by Ted C Fishman
- Investment Zoo by Stephen Jarislowsky
I had higher expectations of Naked Conversations and I was somewhat disappointed. The writing is repetitive: Blogs are good for companies, blablabla, blogs are good, blablabla… It is a book that you can browse through and lend it from the library. It is more targetted to someone who does not know what is a blog and to some old school executives.
China Inc is a great book which I highly recommend. I was pleasantly surprised. The book is filled with facts and anecdotes which I like. China is the new superpower and already plays a big part in the world economy. Without China, the Western economy would have suffered from inflation since a long time. It is China that is keeping the costs of goods low and keeping the US interest rate low (and helping Americans buy their home). China is investing its money back in the Western economy. Good read. The next book I’m looking will be on the Cultural Revolution. Why that happened…
Investment Zoo gives some advice on how to invest and some interesting background on the author. I would have liked more a biography on Stephen Jarilowsky than some general recommendations on investing.
