In the last few weeks, I have added some new blogs to the tracker:

I hope you will enjoy them. And don’t forget to offer your support by leaving some comments there. I’ve upgraded the software on the tracker too.

QuickSynergy

QuickSynergy is a front-end for Synergy. You can control several computers with the same keyboard and mouse. I intend to test a 3-monitor setup: a Dell 15″ laptop with 17″ LCD connected and the MacMini connected to a 24″ LCD.

Home Office Desk

I’ve got almost what I need:
Black Ikea Vika Amon Table with 4 legs. :) You buy the top and 4 legs literally.
Black Leather high-back chair. $170. Made in China. You can’t beat this.
Uniden Wireless Phone (1 base + 2 phones). I didn’t buy the other premium brands (more expensive).
Omega Self-Setting Projection Alarm Clock. You can check the time on the ceiling at night.
Fellowes cross-cut shredder (brand new)
APC 725VA UPS (nearly 2 yrs old)

It’s important to protect your expensive electronic equipment with a good UPS. And to protect your privacy, use a good cross-cut shredder.

Computer Basics

This month, I’ve been spending quite some cash on some cool hardware. I’m in the process of rebuilding my home office.

Computers:
Dell Inspiron 6000 (18 months old).
Dell Inspiron 630m (8 months old)
MacMini (brand new)

Mouse:
I just bought a Microsoft Wireles Optical Mouse 2000. I’m returning it to buy the 5000 model which has some extra buttons. It’s great to push the BACK button with the mouse. Microsoft has some driver software to run on OS X. The mouse does not work well with the standard (lame) OS X driver. I personally do not like the Mighty Mouse which has the nipple/clit thing.

Keyboard:
I went to the Apple store this afternoon but they no longer have the wireless French keyboard. If Apple store does not have it, who will? I’ll see if I’ll buy it somewhere else or save the cash and use the PC keyboard.

Monitor:
I have the Samsung 17″ LCD for a couple of years now. A Dell 24″ LCD monitor has just been ordered. There was a $150 rebate which I have been watching for. It should arrive next week. I’ve added a sound bar to the order.

Mac mini ordered - Oct 11, 2006 at 06:07 PM PDT

Changed my mind and ordered this instead:

Mac mini, 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo
80GB Serial ATA drive
Mac OS X - U.S. English
1.66GHz Intel Core Duo
Accessory kit
1GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2×512
Combo Drive

Cdn$803+tax instead. Save the cash to buy a 24″ LCD.
