Computer Basics

This month, I’ve been spending quite some cash on some cool hardware. I’m in the process of rebuilding my home office.

Computers:
Dell Inspiron 6000 (18 months old).
Dell Inspiron 630m (8 months old)
MacMini (brand new)

Mouse:
I just bought a Microsoft Wireles Optical Mouse 2000. I’m returning it to buy the 5000 model which has some extra buttons. It’s great to push the BACK button with the mouse. Microsoft has some driver software to run on OS X. The mouse does not work well with the standard (lame) OS X driver. I personally do not like the Mighty Mouse which has the nipple/clit thing.

Keyboard:
I went to the Apple store this afternoon but they no longer have the wireless French keyboard. If Apple store does not have it, who will? I’ll see if I’ll buy it somewhere else or save the cash and use the PC keyboard.

Monitor:
I have the Samsung 17″ LCD for a couple of years now. A Dell 24″ LCD monitor has just been ordered. There was a $150 rebate which I have been watching for. It should arrive next week. I’ve added a sound bar to the order.

I don’t like the apple keyboards. The keys feel woobly and I find it hard to type accurately on them. I’m currently using a happy hacking keyboard lite 2. I really want the happy hacking pro, but it’s pretty expensive. I’ve also considered the Matias tactile pro. Yes, I’m a keyboard geek. I write code all day and I’m very demanding when it comes to keyboards :)
