The Amazing Race goes to Mauritius

Last Sunday’s episode of the Amazing Race 10 went to Mauritius. I caught a few minutes of the show. I’m not an avid fan of this show. Regarding the so-called “Beauty Queens”, see the difference between this and this. The second picture is pimped to death. One has the impression that Mauritius only sells salt for its economy. Anyway!

Running Linux on OS X

This is awesome! I can run Linux as a VM on OS X. No need to install another PC. Parallels offers the possibility to run Windows or Linux on OS X without rebooting, just like VMWare for Windows and Linux users. Its utilization is comparable to that of VMWare. I downloaded the CentOS ISOs and mounted them as a CD in the virtual machine. I was able to boot on the images and install CentOS in 10 minutes. Great!

Chesapeake cheap and greedy

The City of Chesapeake bugged , Aspen Technology, the owner of chesapeake.com domain name for 10 years to give it the domain name. They said that they had no money to buy the domain name and that they wanted it for free. Last year, Aspen decided to give the domain name for free. Now, the city council has voted to sell the domain name for $120,000. Aspen should have sold it for $120k. What a cheap bunch of people!

Moral of the story: If you don’t use a domain name, do not donate it. Put it on a parking page.

See: Chesapeake sells chesapeake.com name for $120,000

Also, Aspen could claim they have donated $120k to the city and that they could deduct it from its taxes.

Home Office Pics: Dell 24″ LCD arrived

My Dell 24″ LCD 2407WFP monitor has just arrived. I have arranged the desk as such:From left to right:
Dell 24″ LCD (1920×1200) + 17″ Samsung LCD (1280×1024) + Dell Inspiron 15″ LCD (1600×1050)

3-monitor setup

1920×1200 with the 24″ connected to the MacMini by DVI.

Samsung 17″ LCD connected to the laptop:

Samsung 17

QuickSynergy let me use one keyboard and mouse for the three screens and two systems (XP and MacMini). I could tuck in my other Inspiron laptop and boot Linux to make a 4 LCD setup but that would be an overkill. :)

Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard Review

I had the opportunity to test the Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 2000 (USB). Although it has some cool curvy designs and large keys, I find it difficult to use every day. The keys are too big, widely spaced that you have to extend your finger tips. In all keyboards, I always look for large BACKSPACE and ENTER keys. The MS Comfort Curve Keyboard has these features but the keys are too big. I kind like the design Happy Hacking Keyboard (used by Shane) but not its price. :) My search for a good keyboard is still going on.
