My new iPod, baby

iPod 30GB

This week, Steve Wozniak was on twit.tv. Nice podcast as always. Great Woz although the sound was average. I watched Pirates of the Silicon Valley the other day. I feel that Bill depicted as good and Jobs as bad in the movie.

AOL/Google Deal: Beginning of the end for Google??

You may have read the New York Times article or other news sources about Google buying 5% stake in AOL for $1 Bn and $300m in advertising money on Adwords.

“Finally, around 9 p.m., Richard D. Parsons, chief executive of Time Warner told Eric E. Schmidt, chief executive of Google, that he would accept Google’s recently sweetened offer. Google, which prides itself on the purity of its search results, agreed to give favored placement to content from AOL throughout its site, something it has never done before.”

If this is not evil, what is evil then? If, for them, “favored placement” means Adwords ads, it’s OK with me. However, if they start playing with the SERPs, this may have dire consequences and may be the beginning of the end. That’s my take on this.

Good to know: SERP word has been invented by Brett Tabke.

iPods sold out

All iPods are sold out in store before this Christmas. I’m happy I got the 30GB iPod gift from the office. Video quality on the new iPods is pretty decent. Apple is said to be producing 100k iPods nano per day. 100k? That’s a lot.

Laptop shopping

I already have a Dell Inspiron 6000 (mine) and I am now shopping for a new laptop for the office. The budget is quite OK. I’m looking for a 15″ screen with a large resolution, DVD burner, Firewire connection (to sync and recharge my ipod), 1GB RAM, a large hard drive (80GB+) and an on-site complete care warranty. It’s quite a list for the budget to fit in. Happy shopping!!!
