End-of-year project: HDTV website

As I will be on holidays for the most of next week and since I’m going nowhere, I’ve decided to build a new website. It has to be ready by the New Year.

Step 1: Get an idea
Think of a great idea.
Do some keyword/competitive research to validate your idea.
Find a domain name.

Step 2: Getting started:
register domain name
create website account
install wordpress
install wordpress plugins

Step 3: Customize the website:
install wordpress themes
tweak css, templates
optimise ad placement

Step 4: Content:
write good content with good keywords
find good pics
find good feeds
Each post should have a pic.

Step 5: Guerilla Marketing
directory submissions
blog commenting
co-op ads
keyword optimization

Finding an available domain name is a real job with the PPC business booming and many people are buying domain names just for type-in traffic.
I’ve already done step 2 in 15 minutes. Pretty straightforward. The other steps will take more time and concentration. My objective is build a website within a week or never. If it’s over a week, it’s taking too much time. There are people that build websites in an hour or less.

I may test some Adwords ads in step 5 with the minimum bid. We’ll see.
